W. BEACH VOLLEYBALL: HORNETS TOP RIO HONDO
The FC women's beach volleyball team hosted Rio Hondo College for their only true home match on the Hornet Beach Courts Wednesday and defeated the Roadrunners three games out of five.
The Hornets fought off lightning in the area twice postponing matchesfor 30 and 20 minutes. Soon after earning their first win of the season, it hailed.
The No. 5 team Sydney Noseworthy/Rebecca Hicks won their match 21-14 and 21-16, while No.4 Sole' Mitchell-Hall/Holly Call lost 11-12 and 13-21. No. 3 Kailyn Case/Samantha Linares lost in close fashion 20-22 and 20-22.
It was up to last two FC teams to win the match over Rio Hondo, and they pulled it off with wins by No. 2 Andrea Lopez/Carlie Ortega (21-16, 13-21, 15-5) and No. 1 Lauren Schaefer/Amanda Henderson (21-17, 21-11).
Up Next: The Hornets will play again this Friday, March 22nd at Riverside City College against Saddleback and the Riverside. Games begin at 10:00 am.
