HORNETS OUT-FLY EAGLES

HORNETS OUT-FLY EAGLES: Fullerton College hosted Los Angeles Mission College on Sunday afternoon and held off the Eagles 3-2.

FC scored the first two runs of the game in the 4th on a perfectly placed SAC bunt down the first base line by catcher Oliver Jackson allowing Uriel Salinas and Garrrett Donohoe to cross the plate.

LA Mission cut the lead in half in the 7th on a hit by Joshua Kennedy scoring Patrick Roxbury, but FC got one back in the next series when CF Dakota Wix singles to the left side scoring Jackson.

The Eagles made a strong push in the 9th scoring a run on a SAC fly hit by Roxbury allowing Justin Sheehan to score. Closer Sean Michael put an end to the threat leaving one man on base to lock down his second save of the season.

Starter Jeff Curran (2-0) earned the win going 6 strong innings allowing 3 hits, 1 earned run, and 2 strikeouts. RP Jacob Miller went 1.1 innings with a hit and a strikeout. Michael (2 saves) went 1 inning allowing 2 hits and an earned run.

Fullerton is now 3-1 on the season and LA Mission sits at 3-3.

The game was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday, but the rain and field conditions forced it to Sunday.

Offensively, Wix had 2 hits with 1 RBI while LF Uriel Salinas had a hit and a run.  SS Fernando Escobar contributed with a hit and Jackson had 2 RBIs and a run. 

Up Next: The Hornets will host Victor Valley College this Tuesday, February 12th.  Game time is at 2:00 pm.
