In the offsite game between Glendale College and El Camino Compton College, the Tartars ended the Vaqueros season with a 4-3 win while earning a chance to play Palomar College later today for a chance to take on Fullerton on Sunday.

Riding the arm of Nick Sanchez, El-Camino College-Compton Center held off a late Glendale College rally to win 4-3 and stave off elimination in the third game of the CCCAA Baseball Southern Super Regional Championships.

The Tartars (26-17) return to Fullerton College this afternoon in the second elimination game while Glendale (27-13) sees its season come to an end. Compton staked itself to an early 3-0 lead with three runs in the first inning, all unearned, as the Vaqueros committed an error that allowed the first run to score. Another Glendale error in the fifth inning helped the Tartars to a 4-0 lead. But Glendale would rally late as the pitch count began to pile up on Sanchez. The Vaqueros got a pair of runs in the seventh inning, both on wild pitches, to set up an exciting ninth inning.

After Compton got two quick outs, Glendale began to rally with a two-out double followed by a RBI-single to make the game 4-3.

The Vaqueros got another baserunner on with a walk, but Sanchez' 138th pitch of the game induced a fly ball to centerfield, to end the contest. Sanchez (10-3) got the complete game win as he held Glendale to three runs on six hits with six strikeouts.

Angel Rodriguez (8-3) took the loss despite keeping Glendale in the game after his early struggles.

Rodriguez' final line was four runs, none earned, on seven hits over six innings.
