BASEBALL: HORNETS SPLIT WITH COUGARS

The Fullerton College baseball team split the two-game Spring Break series on Hornet field this week beating Taft on Wednesday 8-3 and losing on Thursday 9-2.

In Wednesday's game, the Hornets down 3-2 until the bottom of the sixth when 3B Christian Prado knocked in two runners (James Smith and Troy Prasertsit) giving Fullerton a 4-3 lead.

In the eighth, the Hornets sealed the game scoring four more runs for the non-conference win.

SP Nick Morton earned the win allowing 3 earned runs, 10 hits, and 3 strikeouts in 7.2 innings. RP Nico Casteneda got the hold throwing 1.1 innings with no hits and 2 strikeouts. Taft's starter took the loss going 6 innings with 11 hits, 4 earned runs and 3 strikeouts.

Thursday's game was all Taft as the Cougars dominated the game from the get-go. In the first Taft took a 4-0 lead and the Hornets never recovered committing 4 errors on the day.

FC starting pitcher Dylan Prohoroff took the loss going 3 innings with 5 hits, 2 earned runs, and 3 strikeouts. Taft's Brandon Van Stone threw a complete game for the win with 8 hits, 1 earned run, and 5 strikeouts.

Up Next: Fullerton (21-13 overall) will take on Irvine Valley College on the road this Tuesday, April 22nd. Game time is at 2:00 pm.
