BASEBALL: HORNETS OWN GAME TWO

The Hornets and Chargers took the field on a cloudy and wet Friday at Fullerton after postponing Thursday's game at Cypress due to the rain. FC took advantage of a hot start in the first inning scoring six runs to roll past the Chargers for an 11-4 win.

The victory breaks a three-game losing streak for the Hornets in a must-win series against an Orange Empire Conference and district rival.

The early 6-0 jump in the first got it going for the Hornets setting the tone for the game. Austin O'Banion singled to right center scoring Justin Row. With the bases loaded David Miranda was hit by a pitch bringing Laine Huffman home. O'Banion then scored on a wild pitch. Andrew Piraino singled to left field scoring Carrier. Kevin Foley reached on a fielder's choice and Charger error allowed Josh Balbuena and Miranda to cross home plate.

Cypress made a run in the fourth putting up three runs. They added one more in the sixth, but it would not be enough for the comeback as the Hornet offense rolled on for the victory.

Up Next: The Hornets (20-6, 8-3) and Chargers (19-7, 7-4) will play game three of the three-game series on Monday, April 11th @ 2:00 pm.
