The Hornets took two out of three from the #1 Saddleback Gauchos beating them 8-6 on the road Friday.
Two Gaucho errors, with two outs in the eighth inning, allowed three unearned runs to cross the plate for the Hornets. FC's defense stepped up holding on for the win in the Orange Empire Conference's final game of the season.
Chris Sanchez picked up the victory for the Hornets (W, 2-0) in relief, and Austin Case earned the save. Saddleback's Jordan Scheftz took the loss (L, 4-3).
Shane Carrier had a busy day at the plate punching 3 hits and 3 RBI for Fullerton. Laine Huffman also chipped in with 2 hits and a 2 runs.
Up Next: The 17th seed Hornets will play at #16 Mt. San Jacinto this Tuesday, May 3rd in a SoCal Regional play-in game @ 2:00 pm.
