BASEBALL: COMETS OUTSHINE HORNETS

The Hornets hosted a strong Palomar College squad in a non-conference game on Thursday, and lost to the Comets in a nail bitter 5-4.

Fullerton's offense caught on fire in the first inning dropping 4 runs. Josh McIntyre reached on a fielder's choice which brought in Monte Montenegro.

Ivan Ramos then crushed a double to left center field bringing in McIntyre and Thomas Delgadillo. Jesse Hayes hit a hard grounder to 2B that allowed Ryan Aguirre to cross home plate.

The Comets added a run in the sixth. Marco Young reached on a fielding error that gave Nathan Soriano the opportunity to score.

Palomar waited to make their move in the eighth scoring 4 runs to take a 5-4 lead. With the bases loaded, Conner McKenna hit a shot blooper to right for a double. The throw from right field to second was off target allowing McKenna to clear the bases and come home.

The Hornets had their chance in the bottom of the ninth with a two outs and Ramos sitting on third base, but it was not in the cards as Angel Lopez hit a 6-3 groundout to end the game.

Up Next: The Hornets (5-3 overall) will play at Palomar College this Saturday, February 10th at 1:00 pm.
