BASEBALL:  HORNETS DROP ONE TO VAQUEROS

The Hornets hosted a Santa Barbara City College in a non-conference game on Tuesday, and lost 11-8.

Fullerton scored the game's first run on a hard hit ball that hit the left field ivy by Jake Anderson in the first inning. Monte Montenegro crossed the plate from second base.

In the top of two, SBBC evened the game up at 1-1 on a double by Philip Quartararo that brought in Mitchell Sancier from second base. The Vaqueros added four more runs to go up 5-1. Reinhard Lautz hit one to the shortstop and ran it out for a base hit. Quartararo then scored. John Jensen hit a single to deep right field scoring Shane Hersh and Lautz.

Opening the fourth, Ryan Penabler got on third on an error by SBCC's center fielder. The next at bat had Tate Brock doubling to right field. Penabler came home bringing the Hornets within 3 runs at 5-2.

FC got back on the board in the fifth when Chase Kerr hit one to the first baseman giving Thomas Delgadillo the chance to score from third base.

With the score 5-3, the Vaqueros jumped further ahead scoring 3 runs in the sixth on Hornet errors.

More errors hurt the Hornets in the seventh as Santa Barbara went up 9-3.

Jake Houlton did more damage for the Brahmas in the eighth hitting a two-run shot over the left field wall.

The Hornet offense came to life in the bottom if eight. Jacob Hall came up hitting a double to left field scoring Brock and PJ Gordon. Jake Bryant then knocked in Hall on a double to right center field. Ryan Aguirre lifted one to right center for a base hit bringing in Bryant cutting the deficit down at 11-7.

Fullerton did their best to get back in it scoring a run in the bottom of the ninth on a double to left by Tate Brock that brought in Richard Canales.
