BASEBALL: FULLERTON UPENDS CYPRESS

In an Orange Empire Conference game, the Hornets hosted district-rival Cypress College on Tuesday and handed the Chargers a 7-2 loss.

Fullerton jumped on Cypress early scoring two runs in the first inning. Ryan Aguirre singled in Monte Montenegro, and then Chase Kerr singled through the right side bringing in Jake Anderson.

FC added another run in the bottom of the second on double by Thomas Delgadillo that brought Chase Kerr across.

Cypress scored one in the second inning when Aaron Simpson hit a sacrifice fly to right that scored Greg Lamb.

The Hornets kept it rolling scoring two runs in the seventh (Ryan Aguirre 2 RBI double) and two runs in the eighth. The hit that broke the camel's back was Chase Kerr's deep shot that sailed over the right field ivy. FC added another run after that on SAC fly by Angel Lopez to center field that scored Delgadillo.

Fullerton starting pitcher Connor Tousignant grabbed his fourth win on the season throwing 7 strong innings with 2 earned runs against, 2 walks, and 2 K's. Reliever Kevin Foley went 2 innings allowing only a hit and a walk earning his fourth save. He entered the game in the eighth with the bases loaded and came out of it unscathed.

Up Next: Fullerton (19-20 overall, 9-10 OEC) will play at Cypress for game two of the three game series on Thursday, April 26th College this Saturday, April 21st. Games are at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
