In a non-conference game, Fullerton took on visiting Cerro Coso College on Thursday beating the Cougars 6-3.

The FC win gave Cerro Coso (12-3) only their third loss on the season.

The Cougars opened the first inning with the lead scoring 2 runs. Tyler Stokes hit a double to left center that scored Ezekiel Gutierrez, and Chris Loeb grounded out to second giving Cole Martin the opportunity to score.

Fullerton took the lead in the bottom of the first bringing 3 runs across.  Monte Montenegro hit a single, scoring PJ Gordon. Tony Accordino hit a SAC Fly to right field bringing Tyler Becker home. Diego Black hit a shot that got through the left side that gave Montenegro a chance to come around.

Cerro Coso tied the game up at 3 apiece in the fourth on Kevin Veduzco's rip up the middle scoring Loeb.

FC went back up 5-3 in the bottom fourth on a nicely hit double into the left center gap that scored Montenegro from first base. Becker came up bunting to the pitcher, who bobbled the ball allowing Eddie Ureno to score from third.

The Hornets added a security run in the seventh when Ryan Penalber hit a SAC Fly to right field that brought home Black.

The pitching staff came out with a solid performance keeping the Cougar bats quiet.  Taed Heydinger got the start and the win throwing 6 innings with 3 runs against. He had 5 K's with 3 walks. It was great to see Connor Tousignant back on the mound earing the save. He went 3 innings allowing only 3 hits and added 4 K's with 1 walk.

Up Next: FC (5-9 overall) will play again on Tuesday, March 5th when they host Saddleback College opening conference-play. Game time is at 2:00 pm.
