BASEBALL: HORNETS OVER LASERS

The Hornets grabbed their second straight win over Irvine Valley College at home Thursday afternoon 4-3.

On Tuesday, Fullerton beat IVC 4-2 breaking a three-game losing streak.

The Lasers put two up on the board in the first inning when Ben McConnell launched a shot off of the left field ivy for a triple scoring Joey La Polla and Pu'ukani De Sa.

FC answered back with a run in the bottom of the first on a shot by Ryan Stephens that bounced over the left field ivy for a ground-rule double that scored PJ Gordon.

The Hornets took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth when Monte Montenegro doubled to left field. A fumbled exchange by the left fielder gave Tony Accordino the opportunity to score from first base. Stephens cracked another double to left center that brought Montenegro home.

FC added another run in the sixth on a hard rip up the middle by Accordino that scored Tyler Becker, who had got on base with a very nice bunt down the left line.

The Lasers mustered up a run in the eighth on a squeeze bunt by David Rojas giving Kyle Dobson the chance to cross home plate from third.

Connor Tousignant tossed a great game putting in 7 innings of work with 1 earned run against on 6 hits. He also added 5 K's with 1 walk. Reliever Oscar Perez came in for an inning and did not allow a hit. Patrick Showalter earned the save going 2 innings with 2 hits against and had 2 K's.

Up Next: Fullerton (10-21 overall, 5-12 OEC) will play game three of the conference series at Irvine Valley this Friday, April 12th. Game time is at 2:00 pm.
