FOOTBALL: HORNETS WIN BIG IN THEIR SEASON OPENER

The FC football team opened up the 2013 season on the road at Long Beach City College on Saturday night as they dismantled the Vikings 41-21.

FC came out firing scoring 28 unanswered points by the end of the first half.

Hornet RB Ryan Byrd got things going on a 24-yard touchdown run.  Chris Douglas scored on an 11-yard run, TE Andrew Main caught a 12-yard pass by Jose Escobar, and then Escobar ran one in from the 5-yardline to end the first half.

In the the third quarter, FC added 13 points on a 30-yard pass from Escobar to Keondrick Daniels (PAT fialed) and a 2-yard run by Nick Norman.

Also in the third, Long Beach managed to score 6 points on a TD by Deonte Dixon (2 point conversion failed).

In the fourth, FC did not score as LBCC dropped 15 points, which included a succesful 2 point conversion.

Escobar had an excellent game throwing 15-18-0 for 211 yards with 3 TD's (2 passing/1 rushing).  RB Ryan Byrd led all rushers with 11 carries for 71 yards and a TD.  WR Keondrick Daniels led the Hornet receicing corp with 3 catches for 53 yards and a TD.  TE Andrew Main caught 3 for 41 with a touchdown.

On Defense, FC linebacker Jordan Kessen had 7 tackles (4 solo/3 assisted) and linebacker Simon Poti had 6 tackles (3 solo/3 assisted).  Defensive back Darius Lewis had the pick of the night taking it back 54-yards.  He also contributed 5 tackles (4 solo/1 assisted). 

Up Next: The Hornets (1-0) will hit the road again at Cerritos College (1-0) on Saturday, September 14th.  Kickoff will be at 7:00 pm.
