FOOTBALL: #1 HORNETS ROLL PAST RAIDERS

The #1 Hornets went up to Moorpark College on Saturday night and shutout the Raiders 57-0.

After shutting down the Raiders in their opening possession, the Fullerton offense came out firing on all cylinders. Quarterback Kane Wilson headed up the drive dinking and dunking passes to Robert Johnson, TJ Griffin, and Robert Downs, until halfback Gerald Hulett took over ripping off ten and twelve yard runs before scoring from the one.

FC's high-powered offense could only produce one touchdown as the score remained 7-0 through the first quarter.

The second quarter was very different as the Hornets hung 21 points on the MC defense. At the 12:20 mark, Quarterback Ladarius Skelton took off running on a 13-yard TD scamper. At 7:43, Kane Wilson tossed an 85-yard TD to Robert Jonson. Then, Skelton struck again throwing a 31-yard touchdown to Robert Downs. Fullerton had a commanding 28-0 lead by halftime.

In the second half, FC did not score again until the end of the third quarter when David Farmer had a pick-six at the 2:49 mark, and then they scored again two minutes later on a dazzling 78-yard punt return by Justin Manyweather

Fullerton wrapped up the game with two more touchdowns in the fourth. QB Johnny Feauto hit Spencer Owens for a 28-yard TD strike and running back Infant Ekford broke loose for a 50-yard run to wrap the game up.

The Hornet defense was strong holding the Raiders to 50 yards rushing and 163 total yards in the air. Linebacker Cody Darrow led the way with 8 tackles (3 for a loss). Jacob Jones followed up with 6 tackles and an interception.

The last time Fullerton had a shutout-win was against San Diego Mesa College, 26-0, in the 2008 National Bowl.

Up Next: FC has a bye this coming Saturday but will be back in action on Saturday, October 14th when they travel to Grossmont College. Kickoff will be at 1:00 pm.
