FOOTBALL: RUN-AWAY WIN AT PALOMAR

FOOTBALL: RUN-AWAY WIN AT PALOMAR

The top team in the country kept their winning ways going on the road Saturday afternoon as the Hornets dismantled Palomar College 56-10 in a SCFA Southern Conference game.

The high-powered Hornet offense did their thing against the Comets in keeping their state-high scoring average intact at 57 points a game.

After missing on his first pass to start the game, quarterback Kane Wilson completed his next six straight passes, including a 9-yard pass to Daurice Simpson

FC forced a quick three and out on the Comet's next drive, and Justin Manyweather put the Hornets in great field position with a 43-yard return. The offense pushed forward for a 10-play 43-yard drive that ended with an 8-yard TD run by Gerald Hulett.

In the second quarter, QB Ladarius Skelton scored his first of three touchdowns when he scrambled 23-yards to paydirt. Skelton scored his second TD in the next series on an 8-yard run.

With seven minutes left in the first half, Palomar got on the board by punching in a 24-yard field goal by Tyler Vargas. Then the Comets followed that up in their next possession with a deep 54-yard touchdown thrown by Matt Romero to Marquis Williams.

Skelton scored his third touchdown with just over a miunte left in the half on a 2-yard run to make the score 35-10 by halftime.

Fullerton picked up where they left off in the second half scoring on their first drive on another TD strike from Wilson to Hulett for 20 yards. Hulett scored again in the third taking the ball into the endzone from 4-yards out.

With the game already in hand, the Hornets added one more touchdown with 8:41 left in the game when Isaiah Webb punched the ball in from the 4-yardline.

The Hornet D held Palomar to -11 yards on the ground and 243 in the air. Prior to the game, the Comets led the conference in passing, but the Hornets held strong allowing only 1 touchdown. Roy Oto led the team in tackles with 6 tackles (4 solo / 2 assists) with a sack for a loss of 9 yards. Davion Bullock and Cameron Powell both had an interception and Montre Bonner had 2 sacks.

Up Next: #1 Fullerton (8-0 overall, and 3-0 conference) will host Orange Coast College on Saturday, November 4th for another conference match-up at Yorba Linda High's Nathan Shapell Stadium. Come on out and support your Hornets!
