FOOTBALL: HORNETS CRUISE PAST PIRATES

The #1 Hornets took on Orange Coast College at home Saturday afternoon in a SCFA Southern Conference match-up cruising past the Pirates 66-14.

The win holds Fullerton in the #1 spot in the nation at 9-0 overall, while the OCC loss gives them a record of 2-7.

After the Pirate's stalled in the game's first drive, the FC offensive unit did not waste any time scoring. Quarterback Kane Wilson ran the ball, on their first play, for a 30-yard gain, and then RB Gerald Hulett did the rest scoring on the next play from the 13-yardline. QB David Hendrick took the ball into the endzone for a successful two-point conversion. The Hornets led 8-0 at 11:58 in the first quarter.

At the start of the second quarter, OCC's QB Pete Mitchell orchestrated a 4-play scoring drive that ended with a 26-yard TD pass to James Rutledge.

Fullerton quarterback Ladarius Skelton did his thing leading the team on an 8-play drive taking it in himself for a 9-yard score. FC went up 15-7 at 12:05 in the second quarter.

With just over five minutes left in the first half, Wilson struck again. This time it was an 18-yard pass to Robert Downs. FC led 22-7 at the halftime.

The second half was all Hornets as the offense dropped 44 points on the Pirates, who could only muster up a touchdown in junk time.

The FC defense played very well holding Orange Coast 39 total rushing yards and 159 passing yards. Linebacker Roy Oto led the team in tackles with 7 (4 solo / 3 assisted) and had 2 sacks for a loss of 9 yards. Joey Noble also had two sacks and added 2 QB hurries along with a fumble recovery to his stat line. In all, the Hornets had 6 sacks on the day.

Up Next: #1 Fullerton (9-0 overall, and 4-0 conference) will play at Golden West College on Saturday, November 11th for another conference game. Come on out and support your Hornets!
