FOOTBALL: UNDEFEATED CONFERENCE CHAMPS!

The Hornets completed the regular season going an undefeated 10-0 on Saturday rolling past Golden West College 55-17 and captured the SCFA Southern Conference title.

Fullerton College earned their 2nd consecutive conference championship and their 26th overall.

FC got off to a hot start scoring in their first drive in three plays at 10:45 when quarterback Ladarius Skelton connected with running back Gerald Hulett on a short pass. Hulett took the ball down the sideline for a 55-yard touchdown.

On the Rustler's next possession, QB John Buksa had his pass intercepted by Daijuane Dorsey who returned it 60 yards for a touchdown. The two-point conversion failed and Fullerton was up 13-0 by the time the second quarter arrived.

In the second quarter, Fullerton scored 21 unanswered points. After a quick GWC three-and-out, FC went up 27-0 when Skelton used his legs to score from the 6-yardline. Hulett scored one on the ground slashing through defenders for a 6-yard TD. Skelton scored his third rushing touchdown running the ball across the plane from 4-yards out just before halftime. The Hornets went back to the lockers for the break with a lead of 34-0.

The Rustlers finally go on the board at just under five minutes left in the third quarter when Emmanuel Cuevas successfully knocked in a 33-yard field goal. GWC wide out Derick Deese had two pretty TD grabs from 14 and 21 yards out from Buska, but the game was decided long ago in Fullerton's favor.

The Hornet defense was exceptional holding the Rustlers scoreless in the first half. FC only allowed 87 total yards rushing and 275 yards passing. Jacob Jones led all tacklers with 8 (6 solo/2 assisted). Montre Bonner was a difference maker with 5 tackles (2 solo / 3 assisted) and 1.5 sacks.

Skelton was sensational behind center throwing for 155 yards with a TD (no ints.), while he ran a game-high 159 yards on 12 carries with 3 TDs. Quarterback Johnny Feauto came in throwing for 154 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions. Hulett led the FC receivers with 4 catches for 93 yards and a touchdown.

For the record, since Tim Byrnes took over as the head coach for Fullerton (2008), he has led the team to 7 conference titles in the last 10 years.
