FOOTBALL: #1 HORNETS GET IT DONE AGAINST JAGS

The No. 1 Fullerton College Hornets went down south for a non-conference game against No. 10 Southwestern College and got it done against the Jaguars 19-14.

After ripping past Santa Ana College 85-0 the week before, the Hornets had a difficult time scoring in large sums on a tough Southwestern defense.

The Jaguars put up the game's first points with 1:38 left in the first quarter when running back Deandre Daniels punched the ball across the FC goal line from 9 yards out (Jaime Medina's PAT kick good).

The Hornet's high-flying offense did not put up a point until the second quarter.  At 7:04, Sean North snagged a 20 -yard pass from QB Gresch Jensen for a touchdown (Corey Lewis PAT kick good).

Both teams went back to their respective locker rooms at the half with a 7-7 tie.

Fullerton changed the game in their favor in the third quarter scoring at 10:40 on a slashing 17-yard run by Jensen 17-yard run (Lewis PAT kick good). Then with 5:46 left in the third FC went up 17-7 on a 27-yard field goal by the left-footed Lewis.

The Jaguars cut the lead down to three points with 12:12 left in the game when Daniels scored his second TD of the night pulling the ball across the goal line from 3-yards out (Medina PAT kick good).

The Fullerton defense stepped up for the remainder of the game holding Southwestern scoreless. With 29 seconds left in regulation, the Hornets sealed the game sacking on Marcus Hernandez-Torres for a 9-yard loss for a safety.
