FOOTBALL: WARRIORS UPSET HORNETS

The No. 6 FC football team hit the road against No. 19 El Camino College on Saturday night and lost a tough one to the Warriors 35-28.

Toward the end of the first half, Fullerton held a 28-14 lead, but the wheels fell off for the Hornets as El Camino held them scoreless throughout the second half for the upset.

The Warriors tied the game up 28-28 at 8:23 in the fourth quarter on a 23-yard pass from Dylan Guerra to Brandyn Jordan. With 5 minutes left in regulation, El Camino struck again to take the lead on a 14-yard pass from Guerra to Moore.

The Hornets had a chance to tie it up with a 1:36 left in the game, but FC did not half enough in the tank to match the Warriors.

Fullerton led in total offense 515 to El Camino's 489, while penalties hurt the Hornets with 14 for 121 negative yards. The Warriors only had 8 for 69 yards.

FC quarterback Chandler Galban had his best game as a Hornet throwing for 304 yards, 2 touchdowns, and no interceptions.

Jonoven Smith led Fullerton with 11 tackles (5 solo), and Isaac Hurtado followed with 9 tackles (5 solo) with 1 tackle for loss and 1 forced fumble.

The last time the Hornets and Warriors faced off was in 2019, and Fullerton won it at home 33-7. The all-time series record now stands at 17-14-1 with FC leading.

Up Next: The Hornets (3-2 overall) have a bye next Saturday (October 9th), however Fullerton will be back in action on Thursday, October 14th when the team hosts San Bernardino Valley College at Yorba Linda High. Kickoff will be at 7:30 pm.
