MEN'S BASKETBALL: A LEGENDARY VISIT

Laker legend and NBA Coach Byron Scott stopped by the Hornets Nest to give some the FC basketballers a few court and life tips.

Scott grew up not too far from here in Inglewood, California playing high school basketball at Morningside. Scott went to Arizona State, but left after his junior year to sign with the then San Diego Clippers.

As the Clipper's 4th pick of the 1983 NBA Draft, Scott was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in 1983. During his playing career, Scott wore the Laker's purple and gold and was a key player during the Showtime era. Starting alongside Magic Johnson, James Worthy, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, he played for the Lakers for ten consecutive seasons (1983–1993). During that time, he was on three NBA championship teams (1985, 1987, 1988).

With his playing days behind him, Scott made an easy adjustment as an assistant coach in the NBA with the Sacramento Kings. From there, he moved up as an NBA head coach leading such teams as the New Jersey Nets, New Orleans Hornets, and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Byron Scott will also be hosting a basketball camp here at Fullerton College July 14-19. Stay tuned for more details.
