MEN'S BASKETBALL: SD CITY TOURNAMENT CHAMPS!

The Hornets began their season with a bang winning the San Diego City Tournament this past weekend.

FC sophomore Johnathon Ross was the tournament MVP and sophomore Ian Fox was an All-Tournament selection.

In #4 South Fullerton's first game against Cuyamaca on Friday, they beat the Coyotes 56-44. Sophomore Nick Anderson led the Hornets in scoring with 15 points. Anderson also added 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Kendall Lauderdale put up 10 points and brought down 3 rebounds.

On Saturday, FC got past a tough #9 South Mt. San Jacinto squad 68-65. Johnathon Ross put up 12 points with 5 rebounds, and freshman Nigel Carter scored 11 points. Sophomores Dillon Reise and Kenny Barnes both scored 9 points each. Sophomore Jesse Ghee put up 8 points and had 4 assists.

In the Championship game on Sunday night, the Hornets handled host #14 South San Diego City College 76-65. Sophomore Ian Fox was the points leader for FC scoring 17 points (8-8 free throws). Fox also delivered 4 assists and had 5 rebounds. Ross added 14 points along with 9 rebounds. Anderson scored 11 points with 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Barnes scored 9 points with 5 rebounds and Lauderdale added 8 points.

Up Next: The 33rd annual Fullerton College Men's Basketball Classic will be played in the Hornets Nest this week beginning Wednesday, November 9th with the Hornets opening up against San Diego Mesa College at 7:00 pm.
