MEN'S BASKETBALL: FC OVERWHELMS CANADA TO OPEN STATE

#1 South Fullerton took on #4 North Cañada College to open up the CCCAA State Tournament at Las Positas College on Thursday with FC sending the Colts home early 83-65.

The Hornets came out hot hitting shot after shot to take a 17-8 lead at the 11:52 mark on a three-pointer by Nick Anderson. OEC MVP Ian Fox led the early charge dropping 18 points in the first half going 6-10 from the field. FC hit 45.5% of their shots in the first half and had a 36-27 lead heading into the lockers.

The second half of the game belonged to the Hornets as they went on a 16-4 run extending their lead at 55-35 on a jumper by Dillon Reise at 14:00. The Hornets kept their distance as Ian Fox remained hot scoring 17 points and the team shot an astounding 70% from the field (85.7% 3-pointers).

For Fullerton, Fox had a game-high 35 points and Kenny Barnes put up 13 points with 5 rebounds. Nick Anderson added 9 points and 9 rebounds. Kendall Lauderdale had 8 points with 5 rebounds.

Cañada's Mike Pickney had a team-high 18 points and Antony Navarette had 15 points to lead the Colts.

Up Next: The Hornets (25-6 overall) will play #2 North Feather River College (26-3) on Saturday, March 11th at Las Positas College. Tip off will be at 1:00 pm.
