MEN' BASKETBALL: FC ENTERS 2019 AT THE TOP

The No. 1 in state Hornets rang in 2019 with two non-conference wins against Moorpark and Ventura Colleges last Friday and Saturday.

Friday's game was played against Moorpark at Ventura College, and the FC came out like gang-busters winning 94-47. Fullerton jumped out to an early 15-7 lead on a three-pointer by Jailen Moore at 13:54. From there, the Hornets took over the game with an incredible 24-9 to go up 39-18 with 3 minutes left in the first half. By the time halftime rolled around, the Hornets were ahead 44-28. The second half belonged to Fullerton as they shot their way to a 49-point lead with 4 minutes left in the game. Moore came off the bench to lead all scorers with 21 points. He was 7 of 14 from three-point-land. Ezekiel Alley chipped in with 19 points and Lance Coleman II put up 17. Omajae Smith scored 11 points and Ronne Readus brought down 11 rebounds. 

On Saturday, Fullerton took on Ventura at Riverside City College where the Hornets showed off their offensive power for another lopsided win at 91-58. FC grabbed a quick 5-0 lead in the first minutes of the game and went on to separate themselves from the Pirates with a 40-19 lead with just over 4 minutes. The Hornets held a 50-25 lead at the start the second half and went on to grab their largest lead of 36 by the 15-minute mark (65-29). FC never let up as they ran away with the game earning their 13th straight victory. Lance Coleman II and Jailen Moore shared the scoring bounty with 20 points each. Rodrick McCobb had 12 points with 8 rebounds, while Ronne Readus put up 10 points with 9 rebounds. Ezekiel Alley had 9 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds.

Up Next: Fullerton (15-1 overall) will break into Orange Empire Conference-play this Wednesday, January 9th when they welcome Riverside City College into the Hornets Nest. Tipoff is at 5:00 pm. Come on out and support your Hornets!
