MEN’S BASKETBALL: 15 STRAIGHT WINS!

In an Orange Empire Conference game, the No. 2 Hornets took a trip down to Huntington Beach on Wednesday night to play Golden West College and branded the Rustlers with an 86-61 loss.

The victory marks 15 consecutive wins for Fullerton (15-0) and maintains its undefeated record (3-0 conference). The Golden West defeat gives the team an overall record of 2-12, as they remain winless in the OEC at 0-4.

This is the Rustler's first season back after a fifteen-year hiatus.

The first four minutes were tight as both teams tested one another shot for shot (6 lead changes and 8 ties), but after FC found themselves down 11-8 the 15-minute mark all bets were off. The Hornets turned up the heat taking a 33-23 lead by 7:04 that was capped with a three-pointer by Ryen Perry. Fullerton did not let up for the rest of the half, as they owned a 49-34 lead by the halftime buzzer.

The Hornets did not relinquish the lead in this second half forcing 7 turnovers to GWC's 2. FC saved their best for last taking a 27-point lead (86-59) with 1:25 left in regulation.

Four Hornet players scored in double-digits. DJ Houston dropped in a game-high 20 points, had 11 boards, and dished out 8 assists just missing a triple-double. Omajae Smith had 15 points, Jacob Eyman had 14, and Ronnie Stapp put up 13. RJ Knibb also had a productive night with 8 points and 5 rebounds.
