HORNETS DISMANTLE DONS

In an Orange Empire Conference matchup, No. 1 Fullerton took a trip down to Santa Ana College on Wednesday night and dismantled the Dons 93-58.

The Dons scored the first two-points of the game, and that was the only lead that they would have as the Hornets jumped ahead 17-6 five minutes later that was capped off by a three-pointer by Sean Newman Jr. A jumper by Javon Jones and a dunk by Newman Jr. at the six minute-mark bumped FC's lead to 42-18 in the midst of a 25-12 run. The first half ended with Fullerton holding a strong 55-32 advantage.

The Hornets owned the second half grabbing their largest lead of 41 (83-42) on Mike Ofoegbu's dunk ten minutes in. With the game at hand, FC played strong defense holding Santa Ana 0-6 (0-8 total) from beyond the three-point line deflecting any chance to get back in the game.

Kobe Newton led the way for Fullerton with 20 points, while Shaquil Bender added 17 points. RJ Banks chipped in with 14 points and 4 assists. Sean Newman Jr. scored 12 and was 5-5 shooting with 5 assists. Sammy Howlin put up 11 points and had 6 rebounds.

Up Next: The Hornets (21-1 overall, 10-0 OEC) will wrap up their three-game road tour this week at Cypress College on Friday, January 27th. Tipoff is at 6:00 pm.
