RAIDERS EDGE HORNETS

The Hornets took their second loss of the season on Saturday afternoon at Moorpark College in a close one 78-76.

Fullerton's unusual loss will surely hurt its No. 1 preseason ranking by the CCMBCA giving the team an overall record of 4-2. The Moorpark victory gives the unranked Raiders an overall record of 5-2.

The first half had both teams trading points as neither team took control early. The Hornets managed a 39-36 lead by halftime thanks a pair of last-second free throws by Jaden Byers.

FC took its biggest lead of the game 49-41 on a three-point-shot by Shawn Woodson at 16:47. Fullerton slowly let the game slip away as Moorpark tied it 53-53 at the 8-minute mark. The Raiders took their biggest lead of 8 (66-58) with 7 minutes left in regulation, but Fullerton had some fight left chipping the lead down to 2 points at 42 seconds. With time working against them, the Hornets could not make the needed basket falling short in this thriller of a game.

Out-rebounding Moorpark 36-26 and out-scoring their opponent on bench points 29-13, the Hornets overall were out-shot on the floor 52.8% to 45.6% and 43.8% to 38.9% from beyond the arc.

Christian Watson and Jaden Byers both scored 16 points for FC with Byers bringing down 6 rebounds. Amound Anderson and Alex Archer both scored 10 points each, while Godfrey Little and Jeremiah Davis (8 rebounds) put up 9 points apiece.

Up Next: Fullerton (4-2 overall) will try and pick it back up this Tuesday, November 21st when they travel to West LA College. Tipoff is at 6:00 pm.
