Assistant coach Thomas Gorrell enters his 8th season on the Hornet coaching staff.

Gorrell attended Woodbridge High School in Irvine and graduated from Long Beach State, but his expertise and experience comes from a life of coaching. While at Long Beach State, Gorrell assisted basketball coaches, which led to him coaching for 16 years at high schools such as Cypress, La Costa Canyon, and Katella High School.

Gorrell worked on staff with longtime and wildly successful coach Andy Ground to win the CIF Division II State Championship with Tustin High School in 1991 and acted as Director of Basketball Ops for Cal State Fullerton in 2001.

Gorrell's greatest accomplishments are building multiple successful programs as a head coach and convincing his wife to marry him. Basketball, he says, is a great team sport he enjoys - mainly the challenge in assembling a team and enriching the relationships built through that process. Gorrell will continue to bring his expertise and wide skillset to the Hornet team in the hunt for success.
