MEN'S SOCCER: SOLID EFFORT AGAINST THE CHAMPS

The Hornets began the season with a tall order taking on Cerritos College in a hot game on the road and fell in a tough one 3-1 against the state champs.

If a team is going to compete at a high level like the FC soccer program has been doing since head coach Greg Aviles took over the program, then why not play open up against the best? Fullerton came out with something to prove shocking the champs with an early goal at the 3-minute mark. Marco Polo struck the blow after a struggle near the goal.

The Falcons returned the favor in the 11th minute on a shot by Ernie Cueva that assisted by Kevin Diaz. Diaz was credited for another assist as the first half came to an end getting the ball to Bryan Ortega, who knock the ball into the back of the net.

Down 2-1 heading into the second half, Fullerton tried to tie it up on a penalty kick, but was thwarted by goalie Luis Enciso.

In the last play of the game, the Falcons scored one more time to seal it on a goal by Eugene Martinez. Leonel Perez was credited with the assist.

Andres Ramirez played a complete game with 3 goals against and had 6 saves on the day.

Up Next: The Hornets (0-1 overall) will play a home game this Friday, August 30th against Glendale College. Game time is at 1:00 pm. Come on out and support the team!
