SWIM & DIVE: WELCOME COACH JERRY OLSZEWSKI

Both the Hornet men and women's swim and dive teams will have a fresh look under new head coach Jerry Olszewski.

Olszewski has been successful at every level and looks to bring great success to the aquatics program.

"I'm extremely excited to be back in my hometown to coach at Fullerton College, which has had a storied aquatics championship history. I'm looking forward to working with coaches Rhett Price and Gabriel Martinez and building a place where swimming and water polo are looked to as examples of excellence", replied Olszewski.

Olszewski comes with quite an impressive resume of coaching accomplishments and accolades. Recently, he was working as the head coach of the New Zealand National team putting together the largest squad of qualifiers (12) that represented New Zealand Internationally at the Olympics or World Championships in eleven years.

Jerry has spent much of his coaching time as a member of the USA Swimming National Team staff (1996-2016).

He has also coached many of the top USA swim club teams in King Aquatics (1994-2002), Scottsdale Aquatics (2002-2007) and Arizona Gold (2007-2016). Olszewski has led teams to US Junior National, State, and Sectional Team Championship titles, and each of his club teams have been ranked in the top 25 of USA Swimming almost every year.

Hundreds of Jerry's athletes have gone on to become Junior National qualifiers as well as Junior National Champions. He's also had numerous swimmers qualify for the US Olympic Trials, Olympic Games, and National Teams both domestic and foreign. He has had at least one world-ranked swimmer every year since 1996, with one athlete earning a bronze medal in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

A Southern California native, Jerry began his coaching career as a teacher and head swimming coach at Buena Park High School where his teams were Freeway League Champions three times finishing as high as 3rd at CIF. He has also produced multiple All-Americans.

His sons, Josh and Ben, continue the family tradition in the sport swimming at Arizona State University.

Jerry swam at the University of Nebraska and received his Masters Degree in Sports Administration from the University of New Mexico, while also working as the assistant coach for the men's and women's teams for the Lobos.
