M. TRACK & FIELD: LIGHT IT UP

The Hornets lit up the evening track at the OEC Twilight Meet at Saddleback College last Thursday.

Despite a 95-42 point difference against Saddleback, FC had fifteen Personal Records. The four event wins kept the Fullerton College Hornets in the mix as the season begins its push towards the OEC conference championships, which will be hosted at Fullerton College on April 18th and 25th.

The throwing events started the night off, with Jeff Pulcher establishing PR's (personal records) in the Shot Put (34-43/4) Discus (111-1) and Hammer Throw (100-8).

Juan Ocampo, Adrian Aguayo, and Travis Bair wanted to join in the fun with PR's in two of their four events.

Juan Ocampo - Shot Put (33-4), Hammer Throw (99-8)

Adrian Aguayo - Discus (102-11), Hammer Throw (95-9)

Travis Bair - Hammer Throw (98-1), Javelin (125-1)

Not to be out-done, Decathlete Javier Weatherspoon PR'ed in the Shot Put (38-7) as he gets ready for the SoCal Championship Decathlon on April 8th and 9th.

One the trackside of the night the Hornets went after wins as Pablo Perez (2:02) Adrian Lopez (PR-2:13) and Miles Nossett (PR-2:19) went 1-2-3 in the 800 meters.

400 Intermediate Hurdle specialists Jonathan Baek set a new PR with a win in 58.07.

Decathlete Rudy Membreno (51.74) ran a solid race in winning the 400 meters over Sheldon Hamlin of Saddleback by the smallest of margin of .01 second.

Membreno also set a PR while competing in the Long Jump (19-5) good enough for 2nd place overall.

In the penultimate event of the night, Brandon Velasco pushed the pace early and left all competitors chasing after him for the next 10 minutes and won easily in a PR of 16.11.

In the final event, FC Hornets hit a So Cal Regional qualifying mark of 3:30.50, with great performances from Membrano, Perez, Baek and newcomer Khaled Takwa.

Up Next: Fullerton will take part in the SoCal Heptathlon/Decathlon Championships April 8-9 at Mt SAC.
