MEN'S TRACK & FIELD: OEC TRI-MEET AT GOLDEN WEST

The Hornets traveled to Huntington Beach for a tri-meet with Golden West and Orange Coast Colleges winning one and losing the other.

While the team came up short against Orange Coast, the Hornets defeated Golden West in cold, windy conditions.

Freshmen Dereck Williams and Jonathan Smith went 1-2 in the 100m dash, with Smith also finishing 4^th in the 200m and 3^rd in the Long Jump.

Makyi Mcintire took 2^nd in the 400m, running 50.8 seconds.

Freshman Mark Fernando, in his first 400m IH race, took second place in 62.3 seconds.

Will Mcteggart, running into a head wind, won the long jump in 19 ft. 5 in.

In the throwing events, freshman Reggie Sumolang won the discus and took 2^nd in the shot put. Teammate Shane Daley took 3^rd place in three events: the shot put, discus, and the hammer throw.

Up Next: The track team heads to El Camino College next Saturday, March 3^rd for a multi-school invitational. Events will begin at 10:00 am.
