MEN'S TRACK & FIELD: VAQUERO INVITATIONAL
The Hornets went to Glendale College for the Vaquero Invite looking to improve their marks with only two weeks to go to the Orange Empire Conference Preliminaries.
In the sprints, Conley Hillegas placed 9th out of 56 competitors in the 100m, running 11.08 seconds. Xavion Steele took 8th out of 67 in the 200m, running 22.47 seconds. In the distance races, Ian Rusk doubled in the 1500m/5000m races. He took 8th out of 53 in the 1500m, running 4:07 and came back to take 4th in the 5000m, running 15:51. Mauro Rosales continued his improvement in the 3000m Steeplechase, taking 4th place in a time of 10:09.
In the throwing events, Luis Marquez competed in the Shot Put and Javelin. Marquez took 4th in the Javelin, throwing 142'6." In the Shot, he threw 43'5." In the Triple Jump, Nathan Wong leapt 41'10," to take 6th place. Up Next: The Hornets have a meet at Cerritos College this Friday, April 12.
