SOFTBALL: TOUGH HOME LOSS

The Hornets hosted Riverside City College for an Orange Empire match-up on Wednesday and lost a close one 3-1.

The FC loss give them an overall record of 11-11 and an OEC record of 3-7. The RCC win gives them an 18-4 overall record and keeps them in first place in the OEC at 10-1.

The game began as a pitcher's duel between Fullerton's Alyssa Felipe and the Tiger's Bailey Powell. Felipe may have taken the loss, but she tossed a solid game going 6 innings with 5 hits against, 3 earned runs, and 3 strikeouts. Powell went 7 innings with 5 hits against, no earned runs, and 4 strikeouts.

The Hornets scored the first run of the game on a RCC fielding error in the bottom of the third. 

In the top of the fifth, Riverside claimed the lead scoring two runs on a single by 2B Jessica Valenzuela. The Tigers added a run in the seventh when Valenzuela knocked in Jaime Munoz to seal the game.

Up Next: The Hornets will travel to Saddleback College on Thursday, March 20th. Game time is at 3:00 pm.
