SOFTBALL: HORNETS MERCY ON SOPHOMORE DAY

In the final game of the regular season, the Hornets enforced the Mercy Rule on Golden West College 12-4 at home Wednesday afternoon. Sophomores from both teams were honored before the game.

The Hornets jumped out on top early with a six-run assault by the end of the second inning. Cather Kaylenne McClure singled to shortstop scoring 3B Breana Pineda and Bianca Espinosa singled through the left side scoring McClure.

Golden West did not go down without a fight as they brought a runner home in the fourth on a single by Dori Portillo. 

FC brought home two runners in the fourth and the Rustlers answered back scoring three runs in the fifth. The game ended in the bottom of the fifth on an offensive outburst by the Hornets that scored four runs to enforce the Mercy Rule.

Fullerton's starting pitcher Alyssa Felipe earned the win going 4.1 innings while allowing 6 hits, 3 earned runs, 4 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Nicole Pratt finished the game tossing 0.2 with 2 strikeouts.

The Hornet coaching staff honored the sophomores from both teams today as it would be their last for their respective colleges. FC Head Coach Speedy Mendoza acknowledged each Hornet sophomore for their efforts on the field this season, which included CF Alyssa Nava, 1B Alexandria Avila, P Alyssa Felipe, 3B Breana Pineda, and SS Elesiah Weiston
