SOFTBALL: SUCCESS ON SOPHOMORE DAY!

Playing in their final home game of the season, the Hornets took on Orange Coast College on Monday and beat the Pirates 5-2.

The conference win helps keep FC's playoff chances afloat with an overall record of 19-20 and an Orange Empire Conference record of 9-11. The OCC loss bumps them to 8-28 overall and 5-15 in the OEC.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third when Alexis Contreras hit a single to center field scoring Adriana Ramirez.

In the fourth, OCC's Anna Marin tied it up doubling to left field bringing Brianna Covarrubias home.

The Hornets came up big in the bottom of four scoring two runs on Jessica Piceno's single that scored Kylie Patrick and Anabel Mendez.

Fullerton added two more runs in the fifth when Eryka Springer crushed a double to right center bringing in Mel Madrigal and Alexis Contreras.

The Pirates tried to rally back but could only muster up one more run. Kaylin Etheridge came in to pinch hit and singled through the left side giving Covarrubias the opportunity to score.

The Hornet coaching staff, first-year players, and fans honored the sophomores before the game giving them framed photos and flowers as it was to be their last game played on Hornet Field.
