SOFTBALL: HORNETS IN HAWAII FOR SOME NON-TRADITIONAL BALL

The Hornet softball team played at the University of Hawaii over the weekend for a three-game non-traditional season tournament.

Fullerton went 1-4 in the tournament beating Chaminade 8-6, and then falling to Hawaii 17-0 and 15-1.

The scores do not count as these were exhibition games played during the non-traditional season.

Fullerton 8, Chaminade 6
The Hornets scored six times in the second inning before surviving a Silverswords' five-run rally in the first game of the day.
 
Danielle Rico went 2-for-5 with two RBI for Fullerton while Elexa Rangel also had a pair of RBI.
 
Kiana Ulufale and Deven Dickson both went 2-for-3 for Chaminade. Six 'Swords drove in runs for CUH.
 
Natasha Trujillo got the win for the Hornets while Madelyn Stockslager took the loss.
 
Hawaii 17, Fullerton College 0
Ten Rainbow Wahine drove in runs with Danielle Garcielita, Mama Rivera, Katelyn Mahelona and Jordian Hicks collecting two RBI each.
 
Five Hawaii hurlers combined on the one-hit shutout with Dana Thomsen picking up the win. Natasha Trujillo took the loss for Fullerton.
 
Hawaii 15, Chaminade 1
The Rainbow Wahine scored in each of the first four innings while adding five more in the sixth.
 
Callee Heen went 3-for-3 with two RBI while Hicks and Nicole Lopez each had two hits. Nine 'Bows drove in runs for UH. Emily Klee picked up the win for Hawaii.
 
Dickson took the loss in the circle but was the only Silversword with a two-hit game. Jackie Nejera drove in Chaminade's lone run in the fifth inning.

"Our players really had a fantastic learning experience playing against some excellent talent", said Head Coach Marian Speedy Mendoza.

The Hornets worked very hard doing many fundraisers for their travel and room expenses.
