SOFTBALL: HORNETS SILENCE THE RUSTLERS

On Monday, Fullerton put on a show against Orange Empire Conference foe Golden West College with a 16-0 mercy-win. 

The last time these two teams played (February 21st), FC came up short in a 8-7 heartbreaker at Fullerton. This time the Hornets not only showed offensive power, but also kept the Rustlers to 1 hit. 

The Hornets started off hot earning 5 runs in the top of the first. After Golden West changed pitchers, Fullerton College continued to add more runs. In the top of the second Eryka Springer singled allowing Danielle Rico to Score.  In the top of the 3rd inning Fullerton earned 8 runs off of 5 hits. Vanessa Coronado closed the inning with a triple. FC wrapped up the 5th inning by adding 2 more runs enforcing the mercy rule for the win.

Natasha Trujillo (8-6) appeared in the circle for 3 innings having 1 strikeout and only allowing 1 hit. Reliever Shelby Boehmer closed the last 2 innings and kept the Rustlers hitless.  

Up Next: The Hornets (9-9 overall, 4-4 Conference) will host Riverside College on Wednesday, March 14th at 3 pm. On Saturday, March 17th Fullerton will travel to Santa Barbara County to play a double header against Santa Barbara City College. The first of the two games will start at noon. The second game will be played at 2 pm.
