SOFTBALL: STRANDED

The FC softball team was looking to add another conference win on Tuesday at home against Santa Ana College, but they could not find their way across home plate losing to the Dons 3-0.

The Dons took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Jeana Gonzalez hit a hard grounder that ricochet off of the FC pitcher Deanna Gonzalez's glove. From there, Gonzalez picked up the ball and tried to fire one home to get Karlee Rivera out, but Rivera out-ran the throw.

In the bottom of the second, Fullerton had their chance when they loaded the bases on a 2 walks and a base hit by Alexis Contreras. The Hornets threat was soon halted by the Santa Ana defense on a strikeout and a groundout.

The Dons scored again in the third inning dropping two more runs on Fullerton. Jeana Gonzalez got her second and third RBI hitting a double into left center scoring Desirae McCormick and Tiana Patrick.

It was a frustrating loss for FC as they could not generate much of anything offensively having only 4 hits and leaving 6 batters stranded on the day.

Up Next: The Hornets (10-11, 5-6) will try and get back in the win column when they host Citrus College in a non-conference game this Friday, March 23rd at 1:00 pm.
