SOFTBALL: HORNETS FLY PAST HAWKS

Fullerton made it eight in a row at home Friday beating Orange Empire Conference rival Santiago Canyon College 4-3.

The Hawks got one on the board in the first inning. Rylie Seip scored from third base on a ball that was thrown to second base on a successful steal attempt.

In the third inning, SCC struck again on a solo home run over the right field ivy by Seip.

The Hornets turned it on in the fourth scoring two runs to tie the game up. Tiffiny Centeno hit a hard shot to right center scoring Vanessa Coronado. Then Sabrina Anguiano ripped a single to left field. Centeno advanced to third. Anguiano then stole second, which allowed Centeno to score.

FC's Nia Rodman opened up the fifth with a triple to the deep right field corner. Coronado hit one up the middle for a single scoring Rodman giving Fullerton a 3-2 lead.

SCC gave the Hornets a run for their money in the seventh when they loaded the bases and scored a run on an error, but the FC defense held strong for the win.

The victory now gives the Hornets the season-series edge wining two games out of three.

Fullerton's starting pitcher Natasha Trujillo went 4 solid innings with 3 hits against and 1 earned run. Reliever Shelby Boehmer (4-2) came in to grab the win tossing 3 strong innings with 3 hits against and no earned runs.
