SOFTBALL: PASSING THE FIRST TEST

The No. 15 seeded Hornets passed their first test at home Tuesday by beating No. 18 Long Beach City College 4-1 in the Southern California Regional Play-In game.

FC did most of their damage in the first inning scoring 3 runs. Kaylee Williamson came up doubling a shot to center field cruising all the way around to third after the LBCC center fielder had a hard time picking up the ball. Elexa Rangel followed hitting another double to center scoring Williamson. Nia Rodman's single to left field scored Elexa Rangel, and then Vanessa Coronado grounded out to second base allowing Eryka Springer to cross home plate.

The Hornets added another run in the second inning when Kaylee Williamson grounded out to second giving Veronica Garza the chance to score.

The Vikings put a scare into Fullerton in the fifth inning putting base runners in play and scoring a run. Alissa Cienfuegos hammered a double to right center scoring Alijah Vega.

FC's defense was outstanding as second baseman Sabrina Anguiano made a couple of diving plays for outs, while pitchers Natasha Trujillo and Shelby Boehmer kept the Viking bats quiet. Trujillo (19-11) got the win going 4.1 innings with 4 hits against, 1 run, and 2 K's. Boehmer earned the save throwing 2.2 innings giving up only a hit with 1 strikeout.

Up Next: #15 Fullerton (25-16 overall) will travel to #2 Mount San Antonio College (33-7 overall) this Friday, May 4th for a SoCal Regional showdown. The first pitch goes out at 7:00 pm.
