SOFTBALL: BUSY HORNETS

It was a busy weekend for the Hornets as they played in three games and won them all.

Riding a six-game win streak, Fullerton has beaten their last four opponents by a total of 25-3. 

On Friday, Fullerton knocked off conference rival Orange Coast College on the road 15-2. Coming into the game, the Pirates were sitting pretty just a game back from first place in the Orange Empire Conference standings. Now FC sits a game back from first place Cypress in the standings. Starting pitcher Jessica Lopez threw a strong game for the win going 5 innings with only 3 hits against. She had 9 strikeouts with only 1 walk. Lulu Vasquez came in for an inning of work to finish the game. Multiple hits were had by four Hornets in Anabel Mendez (3), Kaylee Williamson (2), Sarah Rengifo (2), and Lulu Vasquez (2). In all, Fullerton racked up 13 hits to OCC's 3.

On Saturday, Fullerton hosted non-conference teams L.A. Mission and Grossmont and prevented both of them from scoring 1-0 and 7-0. In game one against LA Mission, FC only needed a run to win, and it came on the second pitch of the game when Sabrina Anguiano hit a solo homerun over the ivy. From there pitcher Jessica Lopez shut the Eagles down throwing 7 innings of 1-hit softball. She had 10 strikeouts with 1 walk in an impressive outing. Against Grossmont, the Hornets bats came alive as the team accumulated 12 hits. Anguiano remained hot at the plate with 3 hits, while Veronica Garza (2), Khloe Lilavois (2), and Sarah Rengifo (2) contributed multiple hits. Lopez once again came out dealing a complete 1-hitter for the win. She added 11 K's with only a walk.
