SOFTBALL: RANSACKING SADDLEBACK

On Friday, the No. 9 Hornets hosted Saddleback College for an Orange Empire Conference game enforcing the mercy-rule on the Gauchos 10-2.

The Gauchos put up the first two run of the game in the top of the first on a ball that got through the left side by McKenna Walton bringing Naomi Varela home.

Fullerton took the lead in the bottom of the first scoring 3 runs. Kaylee Williamson knocked in Sabrina Anguiano hitting a double to left field. Khloe Lilavois copied with a doubled of her own to right field that brought in Williamson.

Anabel Mendez reached first on a fielding error by the left fielder that gave Lilavois the chance to cross home plate.

The Hornets lit up the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth putting up 6 runs. Veronica Garza doubled to right center scoring Natalie Gonzalez. Williamson can up hitting a single to right field allowing Garza scored and Anguiano to come home. Lulu Vasquez hit an absolute bomb over the left field fence with Williamson on board. Then Mendez followed with a home run over right field for good measure.

Vasquez got the start and the win tossing 3 innings with 2 hits against a 1 earned run. She also struck out 4 batters and walked none. Jessica Lopez finished the game off going 2 innings with 1 hit against, 1 strikeout, and a walk.

Up Next: The Hornets (23-4 overall, 10-3 OEC) will back home on Wednesday, April 3rd when they host Orange Coast College for another OEC matchup. The first pitch goes out at 3:00 pm.
