SOFTBALL: ANOTHER SHUTOUT WIN

The No. 9 Hornets hosted an Orange Empire Conference game against Santa Ana College on Monday and handled the Dons 6-0.

The win marks FC's 13th in a row and keeps them locked in second place (3 games out of first) with an OEC record of 13-3 and an overall record of 26-4. In their last 13 wins, the Hornets have 9 shutouts, 5 mercies, and have outscored their opponents 91-6. Meanwhile, the Santa Ana loss bumps them to 9-7 in conference and 19-10 overall.

The game was a scoreless tie until Fullerton's bats came to life in the fourth inning. Kaylee Williamson led it off with a nice single to left field. With one out and the bases loaded, Anabel Mendez rocked a bases clearing double to left center. Williamson, Lulu Vasquez and Sarah Rengifo all came across. Desiree Guzman poked a single to center that brought Mendez in from second. When the dust settled, the Hornets owned a 4-0 heading into the top of fifth.

In the bottom of the fifth, FC added two more runs when Khloe Lilavois chipped a single to right field scoring Williamson. She advanced to third on a throwing error. Rengifo hit a hard shot up the middle that ricocheted off of the second base bag scoring Lilavois.

Lulu Vasquez (14-2 overall) was solid in the circle for the Hornets going 7 innings with no runs against on 2 hits, and 3 walks.

Up Next: Fullerton (26-4 overall, 13-3 OEC) will take on Cypress College at Cypress this Wednesday, April 10th at 3:00 pm.
