SOFTBALL: GETTING IT DONE

No. 9 in state Fullerton hosted Golden West College on Wednesday in an Orange Empire Conference game and mercied the Rustlers 8-0.

The Hornets grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom second. Desiree Guzman sliced a single to center field that brought Anabel Mendez across home plate. Sabrina Anguiano then ripped a hard shot that ricocheted off of the pitcher scoring Guzman.

In the third, FC struck again scoring 4 more runs. A deep triple to right field by Mendez got it started scoring Sarah Rengifo and Lulu Vasquez. Guzman struck again hitting a shot down the left line that brought Mendez home. Anguiano cranked a single to center field scoring Guzman.

With bases loaded in the fifth Alyssa Haro popped a shot into the right center gap scoring Hunter Williams and Clarissa Hernandez to end the game.

FC starting pitcher Lulu Vasquez (16-2) earned the win tossing 5 innings with 1 hit against, 5 strikeouts, and 1 walk. Jessica Lopez came in for an inning going with only 1 hit against.

This is Fullerton's 9th mercy and 10th shutout of the season.
