SOFTBALL: SPLITTING WITH THE DONS

The FC softball team hosted Santa Ana College on Friday for a doubleheader matchup losing game one 5-3 and winning game two 4-3.

On Wednesday, FC played a doubleheader at Santa Ana winning both games 10-5 and 6-0.

In game one today, Fullerton jumped up to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Casey Dufrene got on first due to a SAC error that scored Dee Ramirez and Madison Ferguson. Madison Pevehouse hit a SAC Fly to center scoring Dufrene.

The Dons got two runs back in the third inning. After loading the bases with two outs, Miranda Ramirez and Kayla Avina worked the count for walks that brought Iyari Ramirez and Shelby Macias home.

Santa Ana had a big inning in the sixth inning scoring three runs to take the game away from Fullerton. With two outs and runners tying up all the bags, Iyari Ramirez grounded out to second to score Fatima Mercado. Macias completed the damage doubling to right center field plating Jordan Westerfield and Andrea.

In game two, the Hornets put up a run in the second inning off of a Santa Ana fielding error that scored Aubry Lucero.

The Dons evened things up at one apiece in the top of the third when Jordan Westerfield clubbed a shot to right center field scoring Cecilia Sanchez.

In the third inning, Fullerton put up two runs on a double to left center field by Casey Dufrene that brought in Dee Ramirez, and Madison Pevehouse's SAC Fly to center scored Madison Rooney.

FC added one more run in the fourth thanks to Ramirez's hard-hit single up the middle that allowed Ferguson to come home.

Santa Ana put a scare into the Hornets in the top of the seventh. With two outs down and the game seemingly at hand, Airilin Ramirez came up and hit a shallow single to right field that got away scoring Fatima Mercado and Eveline Nava. With Andrea Ramirez sitting on third, FC pitcher Madison Pevehouse squeezed a 1-4-3 ground-out for the final out of the game.

Pevehouse record her first win of the season tossing 7 innings with 5 hits against, 3 earned runs, 3 walks, and a strikeout.
