HORNETS RATTLE THE TIGER CAGE
In the Orange Empire Conference opener, the FC softball squad took care of business at home Wednesday afternoon caging the Tigers of Riverside City College 9-2.
The Hornets dropped a 3-0 lead on RCC in the first inning of the game. Serina Vue grounded out to second base allowing Jordan Elias to come home. Coco Siono then came across on a wild pitch. Meah Almaraz knocked a hard single that went through the left side scoring Alyssa Garcia.
Riverside pushed in a run in the top of two when Brooklyn Corns hit a double plating Chloe Lockhart from second base.
Fullerton made it 4-1 at the bottom of the second. Serina Vue whipped a single that got through the left side scoring Jordan Elias.
RCC cut the lead in half in the fifth inning thanks to a single to center that scored Sophia Franco-Colis from second base.
FC tacked on four more runs in the fifth inning and one more in the sixth to seal the game. Alyssa Gonzalez knocked a single to pitcher giving Alyssa Caulford the chance to scores. Taylor Lannon grounded out to first as Alendy Aguilar snuck home. Jordan Elias popped a single to second base and Paytron Babineau scored. Alyssa Caulford reached on a fielder's choice and Karleigh Bennington crossed home plate for the final run.
Dallas Garcia got the start putting in 2 innings of work. She gave up 3 hits, 1 earned run, had 1 walk and 1 strikeout. Allyson Fuentes (3-0) got the win going 5 innings with 5 hits against, 1 earned run, had 1 walk, and 3 K's.
Up Next: The No. 6 in SoCal Hornets (5-0 overall, 1-0 OEC) will host a non-conference matchup against No. 5 El Camino College on Thursday, February 16th at 3:00 pm.
