WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: A FULL GAME

The Lady Hornets played a full four-quarters at Orange Coast College on Tuesday and were victorious over the Pirates 73-62.

Fullerton came out swinging early in the first quarter out-gunning the Pirates 18-6 at the 2:52 mark thanks to Tristian Johns' three-pointer. She ended up going 4-6 from beyond the arc.

OCC made a push in the second quarter working their way back to within three points of FC (23-20) on a jumper by Sarah Nunez (7:43).

That would be the closest the Pirates would come as the Hornets had other plans and went on another run. The 16-6 run gave Fullerton a 39-26 lead by the end of the half.

The second half was all Hornets as they came out determined to play a complete four quarters. FC widened the margin to 19 points (59-40 - largest lead) with 9:12 left in the game putting their stamp on the win.

The last time these two played, Fullerton took a 65-53 loss at the hands of the Pirates.

Tristian Johns gave Fullerton a big boost scoring a game-high 28 points. It was also her season-high in scoring. Johns also added 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Monica Hanna scored 15 points and brought down 11 rebounds for her 14th double-double of the season. Kristen Sheriff contributed 9 points and 6 rebounds to the win.

Up Next: The Hornets (11-16 overall, 3-8 OEC) will try and avenge another loss on Thursday, February 16th when they head down to Saddleback College. Game time will be at 7:00 pm. Fullerton had the Gauchos on the ropes in their first meeting but lost in overtime 75-73.
