WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: SBCC CROSSOVER SPLIT

The Hornets got their season going playing in the Santa Barbara Crossover Tournament over the weekend splitting their games.

In game one on Friday, Fullerton lost a tough one at the hands of Moorpark 61-36. The Raiders controlled the game from the onset outscoring the Hornets in all four quarters.

FC picked themselves back up in the second game on Saturday beating their host Santa Barbara City College 75-69. FC was leading 10-6 with just over three minutes left in the first quarter, and they let it slip away. The Vaqueros went on a 6-0 run to take the lead by the end of the quarter.

Down 12-10 at the start of the second quarter, the Hornet's fell even deeper into a hole as the quarter went on. By the 6-minute mark, SBCC grabbed 19-14 lead, but Fullerton, fought their way back by the end of the half to take a 34-28 lead.

The second half was all Hornets as they held on to their lead with an iron fist. Fullerton pumped up their largest lead up to 13 (69-56) with 5 minutes left in the game and walk away with the season's first win.

FC's Kristen Sheriff led the team with a double-double, 18 points and 10 rebounds.  Melody Thomsen also had a double-double putting up 10 points and 10 boards. Aliyah-Deen Ahmad contributed 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Tangikina Tavaika scored 12 points.
