WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: WINNING BIG

The FC women's basketball team bounced back in a big way, after losing a tough one to Cypress last Friday, by knocking off Copper Mountain College 90-33. 

The win keeps the Hornets in the conference race at 2-3 with an overall record of 6-11, while the Fighting Cati remain winless at 0-5 in the OEC and 0-14 overall.

Fullerton got off to a sluggish start, but won all four quarters. In fact, they ended the game with their second highest scoring output of the season. FC's highest was 93 points against San Diego Mesa back on December 27th.

The Hornet's largest lead was 59 points near with a minute left in a game. They outshot CMC 38.6% (39-101) to 25.7% (9-35) and out-rebounded their opponent 63-27.

Six Hornets scored in double digits with Aliyah-Deen Ahmad leading the way for the Hornets with a game-high 19 points and 16 rebounds. Lillian Ballestero scored 15 points with 7 rebounds and also Lyneya Turner scored 15 with 13 rebounds. Lani Maehara put in 12 points and Melody Thomsen scored 10 points with 13 rebounds. Deziree McGee dropped in 10 points and had 3 rebounds.

Up Next: FC (6-11, 2-3) will play at Riverside City College this Friday, January 19th for another Orange Empire Conference showdown. Tipoff is at 7:00 pm.
