It was a rough night for the Hornets at Irvine Valley College Friday night as the Lasers handed them their second conference loss, 61-45.
The Hornets are now 8-8 overall and 0-2 in the Orange Empire Conference, while No. 18 in state Irvine Valley boosts its record to 12-3 overall and 2-0 in the OEC.
The game was fairly close in the first quarter, but the Lasers took off on a 10-0 run during the final minutes of the second quarter to finish the half with a 38-24 lead.
Fullerton struggled to get the momentum back in the third quarter as IVC pushed their lead up to 27 points.
FC shot just 30% (18 of 60) from the floor to the Laser's 36.4%. The difference maker was under the basket where Fullerton was out-rebounded 50-39. IVC also scored 23 points off of turnovers.
Moriah Serrano led Fullerton in scoring with 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists. Hannah Jones dropped in 13 points and 7 rebounds.
