WOMEN'S GOLF: STATE CHAMPION!

Fullerton College sophomore Eunsoo Jeon is the 2018 individual CCCAA State Champion after finishing 11th at the state championship a year ago.

The two-day event took place at Morro Bay on Sunday and Monday with 12 individuals golfers competing along with 8 teams.

College of the Canyons won the team title (615) by 18 strokes over the next best team in College of the Canyons (633).

Jeon finished with a 142 (69-73) playing bogey-free golf on the first day on the way to a three-under-par 69. She also added two birdies with three bogeys in her second round for a one-over-par 73. The next best competitor was Canyons' Haruka Koda, who posted a two-day total of 143 (72-71).

It has been a great two-year stint for the 2018 Orange Empire Player of the Year. As a freshman, Jeon took 3rd place in the OEC Championships 162 (82 / 80), and then she went on to win the Southern California Championship the following weekend 152 (75 / 77).

This is the first time in program's history that an individual has won the state title.

"She was a consistent winner all year long winning OEC 4 tourneys. As our team captain, she played her best on the biggest stage of the year starting off on the first whole with a birdie. What makes this even more special is that as a good a player she is, she's an even better person", Hornet Head Coach John Winek.
